Average Salary in Malaysia (2026)
The median monthly salary across the 428 high-confidence roles in the CheckFairPay Malaysian market database is RM 3,500. Half of these role medians fall between RM 2,538 and RM 4,750 per month, based on 23,709 salary observations from Malaysian job listings and market reports (last updated 2026-08-23).
This is a median of role medians — each benchmarked job title counts once, however many Malaysians actually hold it, so it describes typical pay per role rather than typical pay per worker. It is a statistic about our hiring-market database in our hiring-market database — not an official national wage statistic covering every working Malaysian. Because it reflects roles that are actively hired for, it can differ from census-style figures. For official national statistics, see the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

How this number is calculated
- Only high-confidence roles count: benchmarks with at least 15 salary observations that pass our quality screening. Thin or suspicious rows are excluded.
- We use the median, not the mean — a handful of very high salaries would otherwise pull the "average" above what most people earn.
- Figures are monthly gross salaries in RM from Malaysian hiring-market data, so they skew toward roles employers are actively recruiting for.
